From the Florida disclosure PET-DISC-2023: the waiting period applies only to illness and lasts 14 days; it is fully waived by a vet exam within 7 days before the effective date and partly waived by an exam within 5 days after; hereditary, congenital and chronic conditions are covered as illness; with several pets on one policy the deductible and the limit are shared; premiums do not rise with claim history. Unlimited limit, exam fees, prescription food, new dental illness, curable conditions, no direct vet pay and no upper enrollment age come from MetLife's national FAQ (checked 2026-10-13), not from the Florida policy form, which was not reviewed. The curable flag rests on MetLife's FAQ ("Curable pre-existing conditions — like ear infections, vomiting, or broken bones — can typically be covered by MetLife Pet as long as the incident that occurred after enrollment is unrelated to any of the same incidents that happened before coverage"); the Florida disclosure's pre-existing definition has no curable exception or symptom-free period. Florida rate filing 26-030226 (closed as approved 2026-08-06) was not reviewed.

History
- Clarified the 80% renewal cap in filing 25-2234: it limits a renewal increase for one year only, and any change to the policy cancels it. Corrected the Healthy Pet Incentive note: the policy sample and the visible FAQ give $50; only the FAQ's hidden search markup says "$25 or $50", and neither filing 25-2234 nor the Florida disclosure mentions the incentive.
- Added BBB and Trustpilot ratings checked on 13 October 2026
- Corrected the age rule for unlimited limits to the filing's "at inception" wording, added a source to every coverage fact, and explained the +41.4% indication, the 92.3% loss ratio, the family plan minimum premium and the employer group discount
- First draft from California filing 25-2234 and the Florida disclosure PET-DISC-2023
